Through the years I began to look at life and all of it’s wonder through the eyes of an artist. Simplicity, design, beauty, style, colors, and concepts all began to inspire my creativity. My thought process was being influenced by art and design in its purest form, molding me into the designer I am today. Throughout the years I began honing my skills, investing in countless private art lessons. I couldn’t get enough. Art classes were always an adventure for me; a chance to dive into the innermost depths of my consciousness and imagine anything. My skills began to develop as I branched out to the computer and other types of media. Art was and is in my blood.
I’ve painted murals for 30+ years. I have experience with pottery, wood crafts and furniture building. I work in paint, pastel, pencil, ink and others. I’ve been a graphic designer and advertising professional for 20+ years.
I work in clay as well as in digital art as a Photoshop expert. The digital work began as typesetting in the 1980s and has progressed to Photoshop, Illustrator and web design as well as other assorted visuals. The hands-on work is primarily kiln-fired clay but also includes polymer-FIMO clays since 2002. Hand-building is the preferred method with intricate glaze techniques. Whimsical, sculptural pieces are kiln-fired in wood, soda, high-fire, low-fire or Raku. The work includes lots of creatures: hedgehogs, pinch pot monsters, chickens and guinea hens as well as boxes and other sculptures which are sometimes enhanced with elements from nature. There is a new line of business card holders as well as sculptural pieces available in the associated Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/hedgehoglounge/
I’m a graphic designer with experience in Art Direction. I create visuals that communicate a concept. I develop the overall layout and production design for both printed and digital applications.
I focus on videography and photography that centers around my life. Whether it’s on YouTube or Instagram, many of my moments spent with the ones dearest to me are up for viewing; the reason being that I enjoy sharing my sense of gratitude and happiness with, not only those around me, but for those I have yet to meet all over the world.
My favorite right now is ink over watercolor or acrylic paint.
I really love creating all kinds of art: painting, drawing, jewelry making, fiber arts (knitting, crocheting, knotted rosaries), sewing, quilting and doll making, mosaics, card-making. I have participated in the Art Guitar contest a few times at the Richardson Wildflower Arts & Music Festival, also helped paint giant murals for the sides of the stages.
Worked for 10 years as a Graphic Artist. I enjoyed it at first, but realized I prefer to create art away from work.
Always like learning new things. In the future, I want to take some classes in pottery, ceramics, and guitar. Plus, there are so many amazing and creative artists online, I’m constantly inspired.
