The dog days of summer are quickly approaching, and Farmers Branch is kicking off Date Night In The Park on April 13 with a special showing of A Dog’s Purpose.  Is there a reason for the canine theme? You’re doggone right! Farmers Branch is opening the Barney Wood Bark Park in June and to celebrate we’re rolling over and rolling out “Doggie Date Night.”

All well-behaved four-legged pooches are welcome to attend but owners must keep them on a leash. Admission for Date Night In the Park is usually only free for age 17 and up, but this event is free for everyone!

Want a dog house all your own? Fetch a VIP Cabana Experience and receive your own personal tent, a VIP parking pass inside the Farmers Branch Historical Park, two Adirondack chairs, bottled water, snacks, four drink tickets and $30 in Branch Bucks!  These have limited availability and generally sell out quickly, so you’ll want to book the $125 package in advance.

There are four dogs portrayed in A Dog’s Purpose and although Bradley Cooper was originally slated, it was Josh Gad who actually provided the voice of Bailey, Ellie, Tino, and Buddy.  This film is rated PG with an easily manageable screen time of only 1 hour and 40 minutes.

The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and you’ll want to bring a blanket to spread out or a couple of chairs to set-up on the lawn.  Chairs are available to rent for $2 courtesy of the Friends of the Historical Park.

Mustang Station Apartments presents the pre-show featuring Lone Star Bottle Band on stage at 6:00 p.m. Since the movie won’t start until the sun goes down you should plan to have a rollicking good time listening to the “joyful collision of country and rock and roll” that is Lone Star Bottle Band.

We’ve booked a wide variety of crazy cool food trucks to roll into the park and serve it up when you place the order.  Food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted but alcohol may not be brought into the event. But if you want a hair of the dog then we’ve got that covered once you enter Date Night In The Park!  Beer and wine may be purchased (and consumed) within the gates.

Parking is free at the Metro Square Business Park located at the corner of Ford Road and Villa Creek. Want to park inside the gates? Cruise the Trails of Farmers Branch and park your bicycle so close to the grounds.  View a Map of the Event Parking and Location that also includes driving directions.
