The fun is finally returning this weekend with two free nights of events at the Farmers Branch Historical Park on August 7-8, 2020.  It’s about time for some live music and we aren’t talking about a livestream video you watch from home!  This weekend is about the whole band on stage with speakers that send the songs all the way through the park.  You’re going to want to hold freshly grilled tacos, cheesy nachos, watch a movie after the sun goes down, cool down with sugary snow cones and safely enjoy a beautiful evening with friends and family.

MUSIC AND A MOVIE – FRIDAY, 8/7:

Friday, August 7 the gates open at 6:30 p.m. for Music And A Movie featuring Straight Tequila Night on stage at 7:00 p.m covering all your favorite 90’s country radio hits . The summer sun will set and then the big screen will light up with the 1980 American favorite, Urban Cowboy, starring John Travolta and Debra Winger. This country romance was filmed inside a rough honky tonk barn-like building called Gilley’s Club located in Pasadena, Texas.

The first 500 guests will be permitted to enter through gates at the Farmers Branch Historical Park to claim one of the painted social circles designated across the mowed meadow. When all the circles are occupied, the gates will be closed for the remainder of the evening. Please park at The Counter Source at 12400 Ford Road and be sure to bring chairs, blankets, coolers, and face masks!

Social Circles have been painted at the Farmers Branch Historical Park and masks must be worn at all times. City Council Member Cristal Retana is shown at the park in a social circle wearing a face mask.

Guests are permitted to bring a cooler into the park with snacks and drinks, but no outside alcohol is allowed. If you want to show up and enjoy dinner and a movie then Nuevo Leon Mex Mex Restaurant has you covered with tacos, nachos, tamales, hot dogs and more. Cold beverages are also available for purchase including sodas, bottled water, beer, and wine.

DENTON DRIVE LIVE! – SATURDAY, 8/8

Denton Drive Live! is a new concert series and the gates will open at 4:30 p.m. but only 500 guests are permitted to enter the Farmers Branch Historical Park. This month showcases Bidi Bidi Banda – an all-star Selena tribute band from Austin whose interpretation of Selena’s greatest hits will leave you belting lyrics and reliving the greatness of the “Queen of Tejano Music.”

Closing out the evening is Havana NRG!, the hottest Salsa/Merengue band in all of Texas!    Having spent years building a loyal fan base, NRG (New Rhythm Generation) channels their Cuban roots into a sound that continues to prove they are “a new breed of Latin band” and will have the audience moving to Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Cha Cha Cha, Son, Timba and Latin Jazz!

Guests are welcome to bring a cooler with snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. Concessions will also be provided by Nuevo Leon Mex Mex Restaurant, Easy Sliders Food Truck and Tikiz Snowcones.
