The Many Branches of Farmers Branch
There is no place better in the Dallas area to live, work, play, learn, and raise a family. As the oldest settlement in Dallas County, Farmers Branch is a community that is steeped in Texas heritage with very deep roots. Our Historical Park is one of the best-kept secrets in the area where visitors can take a walk back in time and lose themselves amongst the historical buildings and gardens.
Farmers Branch certainly enjoys the distinct benefit of location. And with the DART Light Rail Green Line stop at Farmers Branch Station, there is convenient access to downtown Dallas and areas beyond which, will further solidify our reputation as a premier transportation hub for North Texas.
Our services are unparalleled, as are our people. From the children’s programs at the Manske Library, to the adult fitness classes at the Recreation Center, to the constant flurry of activities at the Senior Center, Farmers Branch truly offers something for the entire family.
Superior Public Safety Leads to a Low Crime Rate
Farmers Branch residents enjoy peace of mind knowing the Farmers Branch Police and Fire Departments work hard to proactively maintain a safe City. On the occasion there is an emergency, they are on scene in under five minutes. Additionally, these departments work hard to be visible in the community, maintaining a dialogue between law enforcement and residents. Some of the services and programs offered include:
Vacation House Watch – designed to provide peace of mind to Farmers Branch residents while they are away from home for extended periods of time. Members of the Farmers Branch Police Department will physically check each registered house during a resident’s absence. Information provided by the resident makes it possible to contact them, or their designated key holder, in the event that the residence may need attention. The Vacation House Watch Program provides an overall increase in police presence around homes during a resident’s time away.
Property Identification Program – The Farmers Branch Police Department’s Property Identification Program is designed to prevent thefts and burglaries and help identify stolen property should a theft or burglary happen. Our police officers frequently recover property that is unidentifiable due to lack of identifying information such as the make, model and serial number.
Citizens Police Academy – The Farmers Branch Police Department Citizen Police Academy is a 33-hour block of instruction designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Police Department’s personnel and policies. It consists of a series of classes held once each week for three hours. The instruction is comprehensive, covering a different area of the Police Department each week. Officers, supervisors and personnel assigned to that particular division conduct each instructional block.
Teen Academy – Farmers Branch Teen Academy Camp is a summer camp in which children between the ages of 14 and 18 learn, have a great time, and also get an idea of what it’s like to work in law enforcement. They learn from a number of highly trained law enforcement officials such as the D/FW Airport Department of Public Safety, FBI, Farmers Branch Police and Fire Departments, and other agencies.
